How to Get a Barangay ID

Do you need an additional ID? There are many options for you, but we found the easiest way to get a new ID is getting a barangay ID. All you need is proof that you live in the barangay.

Here's what we did to get our barangay ID from the Sun Valley barangay hall -

1. Bring a valid ID* addressed to your residence and cedula to your local Barangay Hall

2. Go to the room where the barangay ID is issued

3. State your reason for getting a barangay ID (bank transfer, real estate, etc)

4. After giving your documents, you will be directed to another window for payment. We paid PhP200 for the ID (PhP100 for the ID and another PhP100 for the bank transaction).

5. After payment, you will be asked to have your photo taken for the ID

6. Once your photo is taken, the staff handling your ID will ask you to confirm your data, then have you sign your signature onto the ID

7. All that's left is printing the ID itself, which wouldn't take more than a few minutes, and you're done!

*If you do not have an ID that indicates your home address, the staff will provide a form that will have to be signed by your homeowner's association or property management office (in the case of condo dwellers). This will serve as validation that you are resident of the barangay. It will require two trips to the barangay hall, but the process is fairly fast if your homeowner office is open.

If you are employed your employer can apply for you online, but if you are unemployed or planning to set up your own business you will have to apply in-person at the RDO office.

Step 1. Before going to the RDO prepare the following IDs and documents. Make sure to photocopy the IDs and documents also:

Birth certificate

Cedula

IDs (at least 2): passport, driver's license or any valid government ID with your full name, address and birthdate

Step 2. Prepare 2 copies of BIR Form 1904, tick the box referring to EO 98 as your reason for obtaining a TIN. BIR Form 1904 is available here.

Step 3. Go to your Revenue District Office (RDO) and submit the requirements. You will have to wait outside at this point.

Step 4. Once your application is processed you will be called by the guard and given a number before you enter the building. Wait again.

Step 5. Once it's your turn, the staff will go through your documents. If everything is in order this won't take long.

Step 6. Once approved your TIN will be generated on the spot and the staff will write it down on your copy of the BIR Form 1904. That will be your TIN number.
